Sam Hood
Sam joined Norris Ward McKinnon in Hamilton in September 2007 after a period in the Cook Islands specialising in litigation. Prior to that, Sam worked in Hamilton for Till Henderson King.
Sam enjoys a wide range of practice areas and is particularly interested in injunctions and judicial review. Highlights of his career thus far include appearing before the Employment Court for the successful party in Singh v Chief Executive of the Department of Labour [2005] 1 ERNZ 569, representing landowners in successful landmark judicial review proceedings in the Cook Islands High Court and being the first lawyer in New Zealand to successfully argue that pregnancy constitutes personal injury.
Outside of work Sam enjoys surfing, rugby, travel, history foreign culture and general fitness. Sam served a mission in Japan, married Candace Young on his return and is the proud father of a 4 month old baby girl.
Has been adviser to Deacons in 3 Consecutive wards, served on the Cook Islands District High Council, a Sunday School teacher and presently called as teacher in Primary.
He has been a Member of 17 different wards and branches in the past 8 years!
