MONIQUE ROBB
Monique obtained her BA in history in 2004 and her LLB(Hons) in 2006 from the University of Sydney. Whilst studying, she taught music, worked in a bakery, and was a paralegal firstly in-house for a large financial services company, where she got a taste of commerical, financial services and corporate governance law, then in her final year of university for a boutique consultancy firm specialising in financial services compliance.
A last-minute job offer to work in the Federal Magistrates Court just after the completion of university has seen Monique working full-time since January 2007 as a Deputy Associate in that Court, specialising exclusively in Family and Child Support. This has given her experience in wrangling lawyers, solicitors, and self-represented litigants (who show a suprising recalcitrance to enter the courtroom on time and in order!), in researching, writing and editing judgments, juggling the Federal Magistrate's diary, and transporting large numbers of files around the courthouse and countryside without loss or injury.
Monique was admitted as a solicitor in February 2008 and intends to go into practice in the area of Family Law when the desire to be on the other side of the bar table outweighs her love of the perks of being a public servant. Monique currently serves as ward organist and stake primary secretary in Sydney.
